Thermal insulation
There are very basic important reasons for insulating a house properly:
· Financial:
Owing to the constantly rising cost of energy heat has become too expensive to let it escape uncontrolled without being used.
· Legal:
Less insulation means a greater need for heating power, and hence an increase in emissions in the air. The new German Energy Saving Ordinance,
which has been in force since 2002, aims to prevent this, the goal being to dramatically reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption by means
of building rehabilitation and modernization projects.
· Environmental:
The intention is to reduce the energy consumption of new and existing buildings by 30%. It is a figure we are getting close to, but only
gradually. Nowadays barely 20% of houses satisfy the requirements of the German Thermal Insulation Ordinance of 1995.
· The future:
In the long term the energy consumption standard for low-energy homes will be raised to the level of a current standard for all housing.
In order to achieve this, insulation is top priority on the list of construction work required.
The old principle of "Better outside than inside" has to be put into proportion in this context. Nowadays there are new arguments in favor of internal insulation - and a product which defines a new class of efficiency for internal insulation: the redstone mineral insulation board pura.
